“The Convent” was born in August 2014, at the city center of Vilafranca del Penedès, in the old town. That gives us the privilege to share spot with part of the historic heritage of the city. The restaurant has integrated its facilities trying to maintain the original building structure, looking for the balance between ambiance and functionality.
We were searching a place where we could go back to the past, a place with history where we could breathe the passage of time, and at the same time we could develop our activity.
Why “el Convent”?
At the beginning, while we were reconditioning the place, we were told that a convent was located in this site. A little while later we discovered from the city archives that no convent was ever established in this part of the old town. But this information arrived late… and we had already created one!
Our gastronomy offer could be described as Mediterranean cuisine, traditional and creative at the same time. We are opened to different worldwide proposals, this is why you can find some touches from everywhere in our menus.
Our customer’s satisfaction is our aim. We believe that a meal has to be something more than having a seat and eating. It has to be a whole experience, a pleasant moment to share with family or friends. We put a part of the ingredients, the rest depends on you.
Wine has a strong presence in our land, our tradition and our culture. For these reasons we propose to our customers a wide range of different wines, mostly from this region, El Penedès. We believe that there is a wine for each occasion, for each moment, for each meal.

Our gastronomic offer prioritizes local and seasonal products. We always take care of the quality of the goods adding our personal touch on them.
We could describe our style of cooking as Mediterranean cuisine, traditional and creative, with subtle touches from around the world. Our proposal is dynamic and varied but focused on our know-how and the way we understand the cuisine.
We intend to reach everybody with our suggestion. It has to be attractive and ongoing, but without missing the essence of our homemade traditional cuisine.
We have two different menus: the daily dinner menu and the Saturday’s lunch menu. In our first proposal we want to reflect our personality and our way to understand the cuisine, and on Saturday’s lunchtime we want to prioritize the tradition but with a touch of our times.
At our cellar you will find many different sort of wines from the different protected denominations of origin of Catalonia, mostly of the DO Penedès. Our idea is to include a representation of the different denominations of origin with the most representative varieties of each of them.
We are located in a wine region. We have grown surrounded by vineyards and we have learned to love this product. We recognize the effort and dedication that exist behind of each bottle of wine, therefore we greatly appreciate this product.
We try to incorporate all sort of styles: still wine, sparkling wine, sweet wine… So that we can offer you a wide range – from the most traditional to the most original one – in order to ensure that everyone finds the best match for the occasion.
